Series of 10cm discs visually expressing sensory and bodily ‘hemi’/half experiences: hemianopia [left visual field sight loss] & hemiparesis [left-sided body paralysis] through collage photography on plywood discs.
The photography includes plant weeds, hidden self-portraiture, winter landscapes, heritage architecture, orthotics and brain scans of cerebral arteries; through Genevieve’s own photography/digital montages and features her repeated personal visual symbolism of pink neon strobing, branching and circular forms, which are informed by her survival of Acquired Brain Injury from specific sensory experiences, hospital environments, or neurological assessment tools.
• Some of the discs show a contrasting divide of the stark neurological difference e.g. damaged & functioning side of the brain/body; whereas some flow and inter-relate to express flow showing neuroplasticity/ adaptation and a new version of wholeness despite the obvious left/right difference in her Acquired disability.
