Continuing my long relationship with Norfolk Museums Service’s youth engagement work, I was commissioned to lead a climate art project with young people in Norwich within the Kick the Dust programme
During weekly sessions from early 2023, we took inspiration from the new Climate Mural for our Times, an artwork that has been installed in the Norwich City Council chamber. We met with the mural artist Gennadiy Ivanov and climate scientists from the University of East Anglia who informed the work, Michael Taylor and Trevor Davies
The project evolved in response to the group’s particular interests and perspectives, using arts-based methods to connect with and understand how our planet is changing. Our explorations were informed in part by Climate Museum UK resources on communicating the Earth Crisis
The project experience has been curated by the project coordinator, Kick the Dust project worker, Amelia Long and is available to view on Miro
