I have been invited to run an arts & wellbeing session as part of Engage Works, youth arts engagement event taking place on Saturday 19th October. I’ll be running a session looking at how linking with nature can have positive wellbeing benefits through mindful craft activities.
The event is led by National Centre for Writing and Young Norfolk Arts and exploring how best to engage young people and inspire activism through arts and culture. Find out more or book your place on the Eventbrite page.
I have been commissioned to create props for ‘Voters, Not Bloaters!’ community play about the suffragettes, which is being performed at St George’s Theatre, Great Yarmouth on Saturday 21st September. I will be working with the community group producing the performance to create a series of plaques and posters with suffrage slogans. There will also be suffragette marches as part of the Out There Festival in Great Yarmouth on the afternoon of Saturday 14th September from St George’s Theatre.
The performance has been written by Helen Vine, directed by Daisy Winchester and features a community cast and local choir. The play is part of 2019’s Heritage Open Days ‘People Power’ programme of events, which celebrate the ability of local communities, groups and individuals to evoke change.
I have been commissioned by Marina Theatre Lowestoft and Making Waves Together to create a set of 15 blue plaques and two seaside cut-out boards for Pop-up Performances event day on Saturday 20th July 2019. The performance will take place around Lowestoft town centre.
On the event day, I’ll be leading a blue plaque making workshop for children and families attending the performance.
Join artist Genevieve Rudd for cyanotype photographic printing. Take inspiration from the Cley 19 exhibition and surrounding wild landscape to create your own cyanotype prints to take home. We’ll print flat objects such as leaves, paper-cuts and acetate drawings using the sun’s UV light onto paper. No previous experience needed.
The session takes place at Cley Village Hall, The Fairstead, Cley-next-the-sea, Norfolk NR25 7RJ, on Saturday 13th July from 10am to 4pm (with a lunch break).
Join artist Genevieve Rudd for a relaxed walk around Burgh Castle, on Saturday 15th June 2-4pm, with some mindful making activities inspired by the surrounds, working directly with the natural materials found along the walk. No previous experience is needed, just a willingness to try out creative activities which will encourage you to look more closely at the landscape, such as making nature paintbrushes and pigments.
Activities will revolve around mixed media drawing, creating charcoal drawings with DIY twig/leaf/grass paintbrushes tied with string which will be created along the walk, and using mud as a pigment mixed with water.
The walk is free, no booking required. Meet at the Burgh Castle English Heritage car park.
